The project leverages/advances and improves the technology developed in the context of the SmartPaddy & DEMETER research project and concerned the development and installation of stand-alone HA sensors in paddy fields in order to solve the problem of soil salinity.

The present innovation concerns the use of an autonomous system for measuring the salinity and water level of the rice fields in real time and is enhanced by the use of GSM modems for remote communication and on-demand information of the producers about the state of the field. The differentiation introduced by the EU concerns the production process and lies in the correct and prudent use of irrigation water, through the management of a system that is part of Smart Farming practices.
